Saturday was absolutely perfect! First, Byron and William went with our friends Ginny and Courtney on a not-very-deep sea fishing trip in the Gulf with a guy from our church. They loved it! Everyone came home tired, but the younger folks headed back out to the beach as soon as they got home. David had a birthday party to go to, so I dropped him off a tad early so Byron and I could go to a local restaurant to see the OU/Texas game. When I got home from dropping David off, Byron was so exhausted he didn't feel like going. So, I went by myself. Actually I think it's a good thing, because I don't think we could have sat together anyway. The place was packed! There were about 30 tvs all around the room, and they had my game on 2 big screens on one wall. The two screens were right next to each other. I don't understand that part, but whatever. They had about 6 other games playing at the same time, so it was a college football fan's dream come true! Needless to say, I was pleased with the outcome of the game! Then I came home and watched the USC game with Byron. Could that have been any more exciting??? The only thing that would have made the day even more perfect would have been an LSU defeat, but maybe next time. Sunday was our annual Homecoming service at church. It's a 2 1/2 hour service full of songs, sign art, reports of the last year, testimonies, etc. It was long, but SO wonderful! I can barely get through the song service without being moved to tears on a normal Sunday. Today I didn't even make it through choir practice before the service! At the end of the service, our pastor announced that he will be retiring, effective the last Sunday in February. That will be his 25th anniversary with the church, so he wants to "hang on" until then. It was very emotional for everyone. After the announcement, we had "dinner on the grounds" which just meant a HUGE pot luck meal. Then this evening, we had the singles group over to the house to just hang out and get to know each other. We ate a lot, laughed even more, and had a wonderful time. I really like these people! :) Now I'm off to bed so that I can get up early and get some last minute things done for our homestudy update. Evidently our criminal history, medical history, and personal character have all changed since we moved! Those are the things we have to have redone. Anyway, I just want it all to go smoothly so that we get it completed before travel clearance is ready to be issued.
G'night!
